Participation of the Founder of "Solar Mustashar" in the UN Dialogue on Climate Adaptation Finance

In response to an official invitation from the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Mr. Alzubair Salem, Founder of the "Solar Mustashar" platform, participated today in the thematic dialogue entitled: "Opportunities for Accessing Adaptation Finance from the Operating Entities of the Financial Mechanism and the Adaptation Fund."

Session Leadership and Speakers The dialogue was moderated by Ms. Sandra Guzmán, Founder and General Director of the Climate Finance Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (GFLAC). She is an international expert with 20 years of experience in tracking climate finance and developing national strategies, having participated in the last 17 Conferences of the Parties (COP) as one of the most prominent climate finance advisors.

The session showcased strategic insights presented by an elite group of international fund representatives and experts:

• For the Green Climate Fund (GCF): Mr. Hansol Park and Mr. Pattabiraman Subramanian.

• For the Global Environment Facility (GEF): Mr. Rawleston Moore.

• For the Adaptation Fund: Ms. Alyssa Gomez.

• For Country Experiences and Support Intermediaries: Ms. Roxann Valentine-Dunigan (Programme Manager at the Development Bank of Jamaica), and Mr. Joaquim Leite (Head of Climate Finance at the NDC Partnership).

Key Discussion Points The dialogue focused on a vital roadmap for institutions seeking access to adaptation finance, which included:

• Facilitating Access to Finance: The funds' strategies in identifying and supporting the most appropriate financing instruments (grants, loans).

• Transitioning to Major Programs: The importance of shifting from single-project-based financing to long-term national programs with a strategic impact.

• Enhancing Coordination: Steps taken to harmonize requirements across different funds, making it easier for countries and partners to access multiple funding sources more efficiently.
